The most expensive cars list is topped by the Swedish manufacturer Koenigsegg’s car followed by a car manufactured by Shelby Super Cars in the US. Koenigsegg’s claim to fame does not stop with clinching the top spot as it has two more cars securing coveted spots on this list. The Italian car manufacturer Lamborghini also has two cars on this most expensive cars list.

At a price of $2.21 million, Koenigsegg Trevita is the world’s most expensive car. The Trevita’s body is made from Koenigsegg’s proprietary material, which comprises of diamond colored carbon fiber, giving it a distinct grayish white color.
Similar to its predecessor-the Koenigsegg CCXR-the Trevita too runs on biofuel and produces 1,018 horsepower. This two door sports car has a layout that comprises of rear mid-engine and rear-wheel drive. Powered with a modified V8 twin supercharged engine from Koenigsegg CCXR, the Trevita can also run on standard 98 octane petrol. The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport version is priced at $2 million, while its coupe version is a $1.67 million. This is a topless version of the Bugatti Veyron, which runs on the same 1001 bhp engine as the older model. The grand tourer runs at a speed of 431 kmph. Also known as the Super Sport, this car is the fastest car that is road legal. This Bugatti was designed and developed by Volkswagen and is created by Bugatti Automobiles in France. It is a standard two door coupe whose variant is a Targa top car. This high performance automobile has a permanent all wheel drive with a longitudinal mid engine layout.
3. Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster
The Cinque Roadster is valued at $1.8 million and is produced by the Italian sports car manufacturer Pagani. This car has the same specifications as the Cinque Coupe and has been produced by taking into account weight reduction measurements that help improve its overall performance, emission and driving experience. This is a two door roadster with a 7.3 L AMG V12 engine that has 678 horsepower and a torque of 575 ft lbf. Only five models of this 6 speed sequential manual car has been manufactured by Pagani.

This open top Roadster is part of a limited edition as Lamborghini has manufactured only 15 of these vehicles. The Lamborghini Reventon Roadster has an SV engine that weighs 25 kgs more than the traditional Reventon Coupe. This new version of the Coupe has not undergone much modification in terms of its basic structure as engineers felt that it was solid enough. However, the Lamborghini Reventon Roadster is a topless model that has a Targa style panel.
With a price tag of $1.42 million, the Lamborghini Reventon is a 2 door coupe. 20 of these models have been manufactured by the Italian manufacturer Lamborghini. The coupe has a four wheel drive and a mid engine layout along with a 6 speed e-gear and 6 speed manual transmission. Its V12 engine is similar to that of its more expensive model-the Reventon Roadster. This sports car has been modeled along the lines of Lamborghini’s older Murcielago LP640 model. The Lamborghini Reventon was the first car to have been incorporated with daylight running lights that transform into headlamps.
The Maybach Landaulet has a price tag of $1.4 million and the model is based on its predecessor, the Maybach 62 S. This Maybach has a new take on the classic landaulet style-where the car top for the driver’s area is roofed while that of the back seat has a convertible top-by incorporating a sliding soft roof for the back seat.
The front compartment of this Maybach is separated from the back with a power divider window. A contrasting effect has been given to the interiors of Maybach Landaulet with black leather finishing for the driver’s area and an all white for the back area. The back compartment of the car has piano black granite inserts, which have a gold flecked touch to them. The landaulet has a standard V 12 engine that can take the car from 0 to 60 miles in 5.21 seconds. This Maybach has a five speed automatic transmission coupled with auto manual controls.

The Koenisegg CCXR not only enjoys one of the top spots on Forbes’ most expensive cars list, but also on Forbes’ list for most beautiful cars (2007).
Koenigsegg’s third impressive entry into this list is its CCX version, abbreviated for Competition Coupe X. This $1.1 million sports car’s engine was initially powered by Ford’s Modular V8 engine, however, the car manufacturer Koenigsegg has re-engineered it for this car. However, the Koenigsegg CCX does not run on bio fuel, making it 25% less powerful than the CCXR. The Koenigsegg CCXR is a two door roadster based on the dihedral synchro helix actuation system, which allows the door to be rotated forward and upwards. This is similar to the scissor door system used in almost all other Koenisegg cars.
