Bitcoin (BTC) continues to evolve and become more mainstream. Starting March 1st you can purchase tickets to watch the Sacramento Kings and merchandise through their online store using bitcoin.
The Kings have partnered up with one of the leading bitcoin payment processors, BitPay. According to Techcrunch and the CEO of BitPay this is just the tip of the iceberg.
“We are working with several other major brands and by the end of January we’ll have at least one more to announce, look at the overlap between the demographics of people with Bitcoin and what they want to buy,” Gallippi says.
BitPay recently passed $100 million in transactions with over 15,500 approved merchants. BitPay has been able to operate without seed funding and according to CEO Anthony they won’t need it. Coinbase recently secured 25 million in VC money from Andressen Horowitz, Union Square Ventures and Ribbit Capital.
The heavy hitter recent adopters of bitcoin include Zynga, Overstock and now Sacramento Kings. Who’s next?
