- Residual category of capital used in balance of payments. Includes all the capital not forming a part of portfolio investment, direct investment and reserves. Divided into short term and long term capital. May be different with different countries. Typically, currency, bills, deposits and other financial assets which have a maturity period less than a year, make up other short term capital. Other long term capital encompasses non-negotiable instruments with maturity of one year and above, like loans from banks and mortgages.
