The proportion of shareholding that is owned by individuals closely linked to the company, according to the definition of the Securities and Exchange Commission.

A portion of such shares may be included as part of Institutional Holdings, thus increasing the combined percentage total of such shares beyond 100. Overlap may occur as and when institutions acquire stock and the SEC considers these to be held by persons closely related to the business.
