Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) will be launching its new smartphone, which includes a 6 inch diagonal screen that will truly represent the term Phablet. The online forum for XDA Developers recently posted a picture that is the first ever of Google’s rumored smartphone. This XDA Developers forum is an online community heavily used by developers to share information and discuss tips and tricks to help other developers solve issues.
Posted by a user who calls himself dwang, supposedly got the picture from Michael Sudol who had originally posted it. The picture shows the Google smartphone, which is bigger than the iPhone 6 Plus – it is 0.4 inches bigger. The Google phone in the picture has an LG G3 Android lying next to it. There is some credibility to dwang as he is a senior member who joined the XDA Developers forum six years ago and he has to his name over 2000+ posts in the community.
The image clearly shows that people speculating about the shape and size of the Nexus 6 are mostly correct; as the mock pictures of the smartphone floating around the internet are very much what like what this picture contains. Next to the LG phone in the picture which is 5.5 inches, the Nexus looks clearly bigger with a 5.92/6.0 inch screen. If we look at the market average for the Android phone screen sizes, they are mostly around 5 diagonal inches.
If you blew up the Moto you will pretty much end up with Nexus 6. This makes sense as it is rumored that Motorola is helping Google in building its smartphone for the past several months, so similarities with the Moto should be definitely expected. It will have sleek and smooth aluminum edges and will almost be identical to the generation Moto X as seen in the leaked picture. However, please don’t be fooled with the small ‘M’ below the camera as it will surely not be called anything resembling ‘Moto’.
Having an ocean-themed name, following the Nexus tradition, is something which the Nexus is rumored to have. It also will also come with an excellent QHD resolution: 2560 x 1440 of 498 PPI, a 13 megapixel camera as well as a 2 megapixel front camera and a 3,200 mAh battery, which is surely needed for the mega screen! It will run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor that is more advanced than what the HTC One M8 runs on.
It will surely come with some tweeks as Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) would want its users to utilize the giant screen effortlessly for a satisfying customer experience. Google hasn’t officially announced when it would be launching its much anticipated smartphone, but it is definitely expected next month because Google has a history of choosing the month of October for its Nexus launches. Last year the Nexus 5 was introduced in October as well. This time however Google will pair up the Nexus with its Android L!
