Riding a tide of excitement and success, HYPER is adding more stretch goals to its Kickstarter for the iStick, the first flash drive with both USB and Lightning connectors to be given official Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) sanction. Currently standing at $811,111, the project has 12 days to run. Though it has not yet reached the $1 million stretch goal, HYPER thought it wise to add two more stretch goals to keep enthusiasm stirred up to fever pitch, one at $1.2 million and one at $1.4 million. The $1.4 million stretch goal may be impractical to reach.
At the $1.2 million mark, those making donations will unlock the Space Gray iStick option as an elective free upgrade to all pledge levels. If the haul increases to $1.2 million, anyone getting an iStick who has also contributed to the Kickstarter drive – even at the basic $1 level – will have the choice of taking this color option at no additional cost. This is an exclusive tint for the Kickstarter, and matches the hue of Apple’s (AAPL) Space Gray iPad Air and iPhone.
If pledges rise over the $1.4 million mark in the remaining two months of the drive, another Kickstarter exclusive color will be unlocked. This is the Gold iStick, which has a rich medium golden hue matching the dignity and aesthetic feel of most Apple Inc. (AAPL) products. This, too, will be a free upgrade for all purchases of iSticks made through the Kickstarter. The casing of this iStick is actually made out of gold-toned aluminum, not real gold.
HYPER held a poll to determine which of the colors would be most popular among those backing the Kickstarter. Space Gray was frequently put at the top of lists, and even gold could not compete with it. Therefore, the most popular choice was made the next stretch goal objective.
Another special offer was made, though the details are visible only to those who have pledged. This offer involves free or reduced shipping on purchases of multiple iSticks, as HYPER attempts to keep the momentum of their donation drive high.
An additional update celebrated the point when the drive reached $777,777, which the company’s representative equated with a group of “lucky sevens.” HYPER has clearly found the necessary formula to leverage the funding potential offered by Kickstarter, much of which is due to Apple’s (AAPL) cache as a brand.
