Pokémon recently took over Google Maps with an April Fools prank. Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) announced a new job opening, via video, for its Google Maps division.
They made ‘Pokémon Master” the title for the new opening. In order to select the best Pokémon master, they constructed a formidable challenge. Whoever beats the challenge would win the job. Google also called the Pokémon challenge, “the most rigorous test known to man.”
In addition, all applicants must have updated versions of the Google Maps App. Next, you will need to click on the app, and open the search bar. There you will see a Pokeball and a button you have to press. These actions allow you to view small Pokémon figures located on your map. You can then catch the Pokémon by simply clicking on them.
The company gave a deadline, to find all of the Pokémon by April 2, 2014 at 2: 00 P.M. PDT. Moreover, they announced that they will send invites to every qualified person for GooglePlex to take part in the final round of hiring. Also, the job will be awarded on September 01, 2014.
Despite all of the detail and fun surrounding the challenge, it really is an April Fool’s joke. Whenever you attempt to catch the Pokémon, a script reads, “the role of Pokémon master is not yet available. Please recommend it to the Google’s jobs page.”
