Since Time Warner Cable is in the midst of merging with Comcast, is the former’s staff attempting to outdo the ladder’s workforce in terms of uncouth behavior?. Apparently so after a new report found that one Time Warner employee changed a customer’s name to something very vulgar and unflattering.
Esperanza Martinez, a Time Warner customer, recently received a letter from the company informing her that they have been notified that she is canceling her service. It was a standard letter but there was one difference in the letter: it was addressed to “Dear Cunt Martinez.”
The letter was first provided to Ars Technica and she explained that when she spoke with customer service she wasn’t outraged, angry or bothered and simply was waiting for a technician to come to her home to provide assistance for her cable box.
Since the letter has gotten mainstream attention, Time Warner issued a public apology and is now offering Martinez a year’s worth of free cable and Internet. The company noted that an employee from a third-party vendor had modified Martinez’s name in its computer system, adding that it has ended its agreement with the vendor over this matter.
“We are truly sorry for the disgraceful treatment of Ms. Martinez and have reached out to her to apologize directly,” a company spokesperson said. “Our investigation showed that this was done by an employee at a third-party vendor. We have terminated our agreement with this vendor and are changing our processes to prevent this from happening again.”
As we reported earlier this month, various Comcast customers have had their names changed to “asshole,” “dummy” and “whore.” Comcast has been accused for many years that its customer service is deplorable, and it has been documented quite well of all of the incidents.
Although the two biggest cable companies in the U.S. confirmed its $45.2 billion merger, the companies also have two of the worst customer service ratings, according to the American Customer Satisfaction index.
