1957 Treaty of Rome founded this Union of European countries for economic policy making. Until 1993 it was called the European Community. At present, there are 15 countries in the Union. The aim of this association is to facilitate a single market with common currency and minimum economic barriers for trading goods and services under the supervision of one monetary authority.
