It has only been a few months that the new iOS 8 made its way into the market on Apple devices. The new update was hailed and praised by the masses, but immediately suffered a backlash when users reported numerous and severe bugs in the system. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) released iOS 8.1 shortly after, which seemed to rectify all reported issues (which it eventually did with subsequent updates). However, iOS 8 seems to have not thrilled the masses as much as was expected of it. Consequentially, iOS 9 has entered the picture.
Surely, iOS 9’s development is under way, as has been confirmed by numerous reliable websites. One such website reported that it received visits from an operating system dubbed as ‘9.0’, a version of the iOS not officially released on any Apple device in history. When MacWorld researched further into the matter, it assessed the unidentified version of the operating system could possibly be the new version of the iOS being tested by Apple. The news has yet not been confirmed at Worldwide Developers Conference by Apple, which has not been scheduled this year as of yet.
It is understandable why Apple Inc. would want to test its new iOS only months after the release of its previous iOS 8. The iOS 8 came out on 17th September 2014, only four months before news of the testing of iOS 9 surfaced on the internet. It received a lot of praise by critics, who termed it the best iOS yet. However, users reported severe technical glitches with the new operating system that they experience on their Apple devices including ones using the new Apple iPhone 6 and 6 Plus models. Hence, tests right after the release of the iOS 8 seem only prudent on part of Apple Inc.
Last year, announcement of the iOS 8 was made at the Worldwide Developers Conference, that Apple hosts every year to announce new updates on its devices. It was held sometime in June, hence it is being expected this year’s conference will also be held around the same time as well. The official announcement of the new iOS 9 is also expected to be made at the same.
No details of the new iOS have been released, as it is very difficult to make an assessment given the scarce amount of data available with analytics. However, one student developed a concept operating system with the given information that, according to experts, very closely depicts what may be expected of the new iOS 9.
The concept suggest Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) may be adding more customization options to the iOS, giving more power to the users to manage their device according to their tastes and preferences. A ‘close all’ option may also be made available in the new iOS, which will enable the users to close all the apps (as the name suggests) with a single tap, instead of closing each app individually.
Let’s just hope that iOS 9 will not have the same debut season as iOS 8 – we wish Apple a bugs free new OS.
