Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad will be replacing paper for some readers of the Boston Globe. The Boston Globe school program “Newspaper In Education” will be issuing iPads to Massachusetts public schools and will include a subscription to the Boston Globe.
The Newspaper In Education program raised 65k from donations and is using the money to purchase 75 Apple (AAPL) iPads and several projectors. 50 of the iPads will be given to Boston schools and the other 25 to Stoneham High School.
“We believe that digital kids turn into digital adults, to put it simply,” said Robert Saurer, director of customer experience and innovation at the Boston paper. “We want to provide easy, portable access not only to our content, but to the greater world of content on the Web — deployed in the classroom daily, streamed live, as the kids are learning.” – AppleInsider
After the spring semester the Boston Globe will evaluate the results which will be gathered from teacher focus groups.
If you’re not one of the few who will receive a free subscription to the Boston Globe you can purchase the app here for $14.99. The app can be viewed on most Apple (AAPL) devices which include the iPad and iPhone.
