It was believed that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) was all set to make the holiday special for its fans with its ultra-sleek new MacBook, which is only 12 inches and flaunts an ultra-thin chassis that goes a step further in sleekness from the current MacBook Air. However, according to the latest rumors, the lucrative holiday season will be missed and the product will not be able to make it to the market in time for you to purchase it for your loved ones.
After much speculation it was finally confirmed today that the new MacBook has reached the production stage, but due to a few complexities the production will be in small batches in the beginning. But its supplier Quanta Computers has assured that it is looking for ways to increase production and speed up the process.
The reason for the holdup is mainly due to its novelty in design; it seems that making it sleeker is going to be tougher and will pose a few challenges as far as production is concerned. The thinness of the machine is proving to be challenging when it comes to arranging the internals of the system.
The MacBook is not only highly small and compact but it also has a high-resolution Retina display that was introduced by Steve Jobs for Apple Inc. iPhones, the trackpad will be click less and the chassis will have no fan so it shall have fewer inputs and outputs than the the current MacBooks in the market. There were rumors back in April that Apple would launch the new MacBook before the fourth quarter, but now it seems highly unlikely.
People who need a good number of input ports should be vary of the fact that since the chassis is so compact, the number of input and output ports would be reduced. Also, since this model will be fan-less, it could be powered by Intels Broadwell-Y Core M processor, which is an extremely low-powered processor that will not heat up the MacBook.
The partner Quanta Computer will have low yield rates for the month of October but it is hoping to have proper ramp production ready early next month. The suppliers are having problems in supplying the different components but like in every new model, it will take time, so the launch can be expected early next year.
The finishing is expected to be top-notch with iPhone 5c inspired color palate ranging from raw aluminum and space gray to gold. This MacBook is highly anticipated by fans because Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) revamped its MacBook six months ago, which were only slight specification changes to its 11 inch and 13 inch product line. This would be the first time this new size is being introduced.
However, this ultrathin Retina MacBook Air is now set to clash with the release of the highly anticipated iPad Pro, which has a screen measuring 12.9 inch. If the production had gone as per schedule (the MacBook release scheduled this holiday season) then the two products wouldn’t have threatened to cannibalize each other’s potential sales.
