Verizon announced today they activated over 5.3 million Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhones this holiday season. Their total smartphone activation was 9.8 million. These figures are found in a recent 8-K filling with the SEC.
For comparison Verizon activated 7.7 million smartphones in the fourth quarter of 2011 of which 4.2 million were iPhones.
This news comes just after AT&T announces they hit a record holiday quarter selling over 8 million iPhones. T-Mobile announced they were adding 100k new devices per month and just today that they will be selling Apple devices. Sprint has yet to announce their total smartphone sales and number of iPhones sold.
What do all these statistics mean for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and shareholders? That’s uncertain but you won’t have to wait long because Q1 earnings release will happen on Jan 24, 2013.
