During the time between iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 a lot of other big names made their mark in the market and established themselves as smartphone leaders. This left Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) under pressure to come up with something that would stand head and shoulders above others. The question is has it?
The smartphone market cannot be taken for granted and it won’t be completely wrong to say that Apple relied way too much on its “traditional” look for a bit too long. During the time when Apple was absent from the market, Samsung came in with its flagship Samsung Note 3- a phablet with a mammoth 5.7 inches screen, 3GB RAM, a card slot and internal memory upto 64GB. Note 3 brought with it a 13MP rear camera to capture portraits and landscapes and a 2MP front camera to cater to the craze of selfies. Samsung called it an ultimate phone with absolutely no drawback.
Then came the smart and sleek HTC One M8, with a large 5 inches screen, a card slot that could go up to 128 GB and internal memory of 16/32GB. The 2GB ram promises good speed and the 5MP front camera ensures great selfies. Both these phones offered more features than iPhone 5 and left Apple’s phone behind.
Then came the all important unveiling…
The market scenario required Apple to offer something extra special because it was buzzing with leaks, rumors and excitement. But…the specifications of iPhone 6 put a damper on the hype; it does not offer anything special or extremely innovative. It is just a smartphone that is trying to catch up to its competitors.
iPhone 6 has two versions; one with a smaller screen of 4.7 inches and iPhone 6 plus with 5.5 inches. Why would Apple Inc. want to jump into large screens now? It’s quite simple; other companies have opted for large screens and made huge profits and won the market over.
Let’s see why Apple Inc. iPhone 6 is just another smartphone…
The 8MP camera is not big deal when others offer more…much more; the front 1.2MP camera is just disappointing and a ram of 1GB simply doesn’t do the trick. And once again no card slot, meaning if somehow your software gets blown up, you can kiss your data goodbye. Sure it’s trying to be more private and personal with the finger print sensor and a new iOS, but was the finger print sensor technology ever a big hit?
The price tag once again is on the higher side; Apple certainly doesn’t manufacture cheap. But it will be interesting to see if consumers will be willing to pay higher prices for a smartphone that offers less features than other more affordable smartphones. It is safe to assume that hardcore fans will go out and by the latest version of iPhone, but to get more sales the company needs a wider pool of customers.
The only people who are happy with the arrival of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 6 are the previous customers of the company. After the unveiling the iPhone 6 has taken a lot brunt from critics and consumers for its lack of creativity and innovation. Now it’s up to the brand name to gather impressive sales for the smartphone.
